Inspired by the works of Nigel Henderson, Sir Eduardo Paolozzi ad Devin Allen, 1964 was created in order to explore the current political and economical crisis hitting Brazil. In order to create the parallelism in between the beginning of the Brazilian Dictatorship and modern times, I decided to explore photo journalism and darkroom photography. This way, I am not only showing the political similarities in between both time periods, but I am documenting it with the same technology.
The newspapers have been collected from public domain websites, and are a crucial part of the Brazilian history. I thought that by creating this parallelism, I would be able to explore and compare both time periods, and leave both the piece and political crisis to be interpreted by the audience.
